- Have smoke alarms installed in the correct places
- Have a fire safety plan
- Make sure you have a safety switch installed
- Ensure all appliances have adequate ventilation
- Throw away all power boards and extension sockets
- Replace all halogen downlights with 240 volt Energy Efficient Lighting
- Clean and wash the dryer lint filter regularly
- Let the dryer cool down completely before loading it up again
- Throw away old appliances especially electric blankets or bar heaters
- Store flammables in a cool and safe place
- Pool chemicals stored in a cool and safe place away from flammables
- Don’t smoke near flammables
- Don’t have electrical appliances near baths or wet areas
- Don’t wander out of the kitchen while cooking
- Only use a fully qualified and insured electrician
- Don’t attempt electrical work yourself
